Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-20 · Operated by Cove

The service

Cove is a Discord bot and a web dashboard for configuring it, provided by Cove ("we"). By adding the bot to a server, using its commands, or signing into the dashboard, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Cove runs on Discord, so Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines apply to everything you do with it as well.

Who can use it

You must meet Discord's minimum age (13, or older where your local law requires it) and be allowed to use Discord. To add Cove to a server or change its settings you need the appropriate permissions in that server, which are granted by the server's owner, not by us.

Acceptable use

Don't use Cove to:

  • break the law, or Discord's rules;
  • harass, threaten, or abuse people, or help others do so;
  • post, store, or distribute content you don't have the right to;
  • send spam, or flood the bot or the AI feature with automated requests;
  • probe, overload, or interfere with the service or the systems it relies on;
  • impersonate us, or claim your server's use of the bot is endorsed by us.

We may remove the bot from a server, or block a user, if we reasonably believe these terms are being broken.

Running a server with Cove

If you configure Cove for a server, you're responsible for how it's used there. In particular:

  • Moderation actions (warnings, mutes, bans, jails) are taken by your staff, using the bot as a tool. The decisions are yours.
  • Content you put into the bot - welcome messages, panels, auto-responses, ticket forms, the AI knowledge base - is yours, and must be something you have the right to use.
  • Cove stores data about your members as described in the Privacy Policy. Where the law where you or your members live requires you to tell them about that, or to get their consent, that's your responsibility as the server's operator.
  • Ticket transcripts may contain what your members wrote. Treat them accordingly.

AI answering

Servers can turn on an AI that replies to support tickets before a person does. If you enable it:

  • The AI can be wrong. Its replies are generated text, not statements by us, and not advice of any kind. It is designed to hand over to a person when it isn't sure, but that doesn't guarantee it never says something incorrect.
  • What it says is shaped by the knowledge base and rules your server gives it. Keep those accurate. Anything it commits to on your behalf - a refund, a deadline, a price - is between you and your member, not us.
  • Ticket messages are sent to a third-party provider to generate replies, as described in the Privacy Policy. By turning the feature on you accept that.
  • Providers have rate limits. If they throttle, the AI stops answering and the ticket goes to your staff instead.

Availability

Cove is provided as it is, when it is. It depends on Discord, on hosting, and on outside services, any of which can be down or change. We aim to keep it running and to keep your configuration safe, but we don't promise uptime, and we may change or remove features. If something you rely on is going away, we'll try to say so in the support server ahead of time.

We recommend keeping your own copies of anything important that you put into the bot.

Ending access

You can stop using Cove at any time by removing it from your server or logging out of the dashboard. We can suspend or end access to the service, or to a specific server, if these terms are broken, if required by law or by Discord, or if we stop offering the service. Where reasonable we'll give notice.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Cove is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses - including lost data, lost revenue, or damage arising from moderation decisions, AI replies, or the service being unavailable. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top will change and the new version will be here. Continuing to use Cove after that means the updated terms apply.
